Fill the gaps Original Medicare leaves behind.

Original Medicare covers a lot — but not everything. Copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles can add up fast. A Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan pays those leftover costs so unexpected bills don't catch you off guard. We'll help you find the plan that gives you the most coverage for your budget.

What is Medicare Supplement?

Medicare Supplement, commonly called Medigap, is a type of private insurance policy that works alongside your Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) coverage. When Medicare pays its share of an approved medical service, your Medigap plan steps in and covers some or all of the remaining costs — including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.

Medigap plans are standardized by the federal government, which means a Plan G from one insurer offers the same core benefits as a Plan G from another. The main differences between insurers are price and customer service — which is exactly where a Believers agent adds value.

KEY BENEFITS

What you get with this plan.

  • Covers Medicare copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles

  • Guaranteed renewable — coverage cannot be cancelled as long as you pay your premium

  • Nationwide coverage — ideal for people who travel or split time between states

  • No network restrictions — see any doctor that accepts Medicare, anywhere in the U.S.

  • Predictable costs — reduces or eliminates surprise medical bills

  • Standardized plans make it easy to compare options across insurers

Who is Medicare Supplement for?

Medicare Supplement is a great fit if you:

  • Want the freedom to see any Medicare-accepting doctor without referrals

  • Travel frequently or have doctors in multiple states

  • Have significant or unpredictable healthcare needs

  • Prefer a higher monthly premium in exchange for very low out-of-pocket costs

It may not be the best choice if you:

  • Are looking for the lowest possible monthly premium (consider Medicare Advantage instead)

  • Want prescription drug coverage included — Medigap does not cover Part D; you would need a separate drug plan

  • Are under 65 — availability and pricing vary by state for those under 65

Medigap plans do not include prescription drug coverage. If you enroll in a Supplement plan, we will also help you select a standalone Part D prescription drug plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage?

Medicare Supplement works alongside Original Medicare and helps pay your out-of-pocket costs. Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare with a bundled plan from a private insurer. Supplement gives you more flexibility; Advantage often costs less per month.

When is the best time to enroll in a Medigap plan?

The best time is during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period, which begins the month you turn 65 and are enrolled in Part B. During this 6-month window, insurers cannot deny coverage or charge higher premiums based on your health.

Can I be denied a Medigap plan?

Outside of your Open Enrollment Period, insurers in most states can use medical underwriting, which means they can deny coverage or charge more based on your health history. Enrolling at the right time is critical — we'll make sure you don't miss your window.

Does Medigap cover prescription drugs?

No. Medigap plans do not include prescription drug coverage. You will need to enroll in a separate Medicare Part D plan. We can help you find and enroll in a Part D plan at the same time.
